Style Icon: Tamu Mcpherson

The babe of all babes, Tamu Mcpherson is the next style icon of WNE.

I'm a huge fan of Tamu Mcpherson, founder/photographer of streetstyle website All The Pretty Birds. If you aren't, I assume you have not yet discovered and coveted her playful approach to dressing. Her heavy inclination toward color, pattern and print has caught the eye of street style photographers, all of the internet and even Tracee Ellis Ross.

Just when it seems like she's reached the peak of her signature uncompromising style (e.g, flared trousers, bright coats) she surprises you with the inverse of it (skinny denim and earth-toned furs) confidently worn with the same amount of enthusiasm and sashay. So how exactly does she achieve this?
"A hopeless romantic, constant day dreamer, grounded by relentless ambition and solid enough instincts", is how she describes herself.

1. Turtlenecks, turtlenecks, turtlenecks.

2. Full length coats in bright hues.

3. Color & pattern play. Mix it up. Mix it good.

4. Use of layers; Skirts of trousers. Sweaters over other sweaters. Jean jackets under winter coats.

5. Did I mention turtlenecks?

6. Roki Prunali white sneakers

7. DENIM; flared (mostly) some skinny, light wash.

8. Adroit femininity exists in ruffles.

9. Wear what you want and only what you want.

10. Travel. Travel a lot.

11. Respect the mini length skirt. Respect it in all forms: pleated, knitted & suede.

12. Don't be afraid to wear flats. The chunkier the better.

13. Neutral makeup is key.
